초록

공공도서관에서 제공하고 있는 디지털참고봉사의 현황과 발전을 이해하기 위하여, 전국의 공공도서관 홈페이지를 직접 접속하여 관찰하고 이용 데이터를 수집하여 분석하였으며. 2003년에 수집하였던 데이터와 비교하였다. 모두 404개의 디지털참고봉사 사이트에 대하여, 접근수준, 서비스방식, 링크명칭, 서비스정책, 웹폼, FAQ 등 서비스 제공 관련 특성을 분석한 후, 15일간 수행된 질문응답 데이터를 수집하여 이용도서관, 이용수준, 응답비율, 질문유형 등 서비스 성능을 분석하였다. 서비스 현황에 대한 이해와 문제점, 그리고 4년 동안에 걸친 변화가 식별되었으며, 향후 발전을 위한 제언이 이루어졌다.

Abstract

To understand the present status and the development of the digital reference service in Korean public libraries, a nationwide site observation was attempted in 2007. The collected data was analyzed, then compared with the previous analysis based on a 2003 data. For the 404 sites offering digital reference, operational characteristics, such as access level, service mode, link description, policy, web form, and FAQ, are analyzed. Performance analysis focused on the presence of question posting, volume of usage, response rate, and types of the questions, for the data collected for 15 days through question and answer transcript recording. Results reveal findings on the present situation as well as changes over 4 years.Related problems are identified. The conclusion includes suggestions for improving digital reference service.

본 연구는 인쇄형 해외학술지 원문제공서비스(DDS)의 경제성을 분석하기 위해 이용자 기반의 경제적 가치 평가 방법론 및 모델을 개발하고자 하였다. 본 연구를 위해 K기관의 구독중인 해외학술지 원문제공서비스의 데이터 중 일부가 분석을 위해 사용되었고 K기관 원문제공서비스 이용자를 대상으로 웹 서베이를 실시하였다. 해외학술지 원문제공서비스의 경제적 가치는 사용가치, 비사용가치, 그리고 기대가치가 고려되었고 사용가치 산출을 위해서는 소득접근법과 시장접근법을 제안하였다. 이용자에 의한 가치 산출을 위해, 본 연구는 조건부가치평가법을 적용하였고 이를 위해 가상 시나리오를 설정하였다.

Abstract

This study is to develope a user-based economic valuation methodology and model for the economic analysis on the DDS of foreign journals. For this study, the sampling data on the annual subscribed journals by K institution was used and the online questionnaire was used to collect data. There are three aspects of the economic value of DDS journals was classified as use value, non-use value, and expectancy value. We suggested the income and market approach to measure its economic use value. To estimate the its value by individual users, this study applied a contingent valuation method and designed the imaginary scenarios.

본 연구의 목적은 대학도서관 이용자의 도서관 이용행태를 분석하여 대학도서관 공간 활용의 효율성을 제고하는 데 있다. 도서관 이용행태를 분석하기 위해 본 연구는 이용자들이 직접 자신들의 행동을 기록하는 다이어리 기법을 이용했다. 총 108명이 참여를 했고 이들 중 84명이 다이어리를 작성했다. 제출된 다이어리 중 내용을 충실히 작성한 14명의 참여자와 도서관 이용행태, 이용시 문제점 및 요구사항 등에 대한 인터뷰를 진행했다. 다이어리와 인터뷰 분석결과, 공간계획 측면에서 이용되지 않은 공간이나 기기들의 이용률 향상을 위한 방안마련과 서가 브라우징을 통한 정보접근 향상을 위한 방법을 제안했다. 또한 도서관 이용시간 분석을 통해 학생들의 이용행태 및 이용률 제고 방안을 논의했다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to enhance the efficiency of library space usage through analyzing users’ behavior in an academic library. Diary methodology was applied for collecting users’ activities in the library. 108 students participated in this study, but 84 students submitted their diaries. Among them, 14 participants were interviewed to identify barriers and their needs in using the library. The findings suggest rearranging IT devices to increase use rate of those devices, making plans for reusing the space where it is rarely used, and improving the accessibility of information through browsing in the bookstack area. Additionally, time analysis of users’ activities was used to analyze students’ behavior in the library.

이 논문은 학술지가 지니는 다양한 속성들(내부적인 요소, 외부적인 요소, 그리고 요구론적 요소)이 학술지의 이용 가치에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지에 대한 실증적 사례분석을 목적으로 하였다. 이 사례연구의 방법은 웹 질문지법을 채택하였으며, K기관 원문서비스 이용자와 DDS 담당자들을 대상으로 수집된 총 383개의 유효한 데이터를 분석하였다. 학술지의 내부적인 요소(즉, IF, 학술지 가격, 사용언어)가 학술지 이용가치에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 학술지의 외부적인 요소와 요구론적 요소는 학술지 이용가치에 별다른 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다.

Abstract

The purpose of this empirical case study is to explore what factors affect on the economic valuation of academic journals and to ascertain the degree of each impact. For this study, factors were categorized into three groups: internal factors, external factors and demand theory factors. The on-line questionnaire was used to collect data and 383 responded from individual users of and the persons in charge of the DDS(Document Delivery Service). Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 12.0 for Windows/PC. The result showed that there exist a strong relationship between the internal factors of academic journals(i.e., Impact Factor, Cost, and Language) and economic valuation in terms of its use value.

본 연구는 다양한 관점의 이용요구가 혼재되어있는 독서자료의 속성을 파악하기 위해, 도서의 동시이용(동시대출, 동시구매) 데이터에 기반하여 독서자료의 선택 및 이용과 관계된 서지적 속성을 분석하였다. KDC 주제, 독자대상, 이용자 연령 관련 26개 하위 속성 단위로 구분하여 서지적 속성 용어의 동시출현행렬을 생성하고 네트워크 분석을 수행한 결과, 독서자료의 서지적 속성의 세부 내용 및 두드러진 매개 역할을 파악하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 도서관 OPAC을 비롯한 독서정보 시스템의 패싯 설계에 도움이 될 것이다.

Abstract

This study analyzed bibliographic attributes related to the selection and use of reading materials based on data on books borrowed or purchased together in order to understand the properties of reading materials that have complex user needs from various perspectives. As a result of creating co-occurrence matrices of bibliographic attribute terms by dividing them into 26 sub-attribute units related to KDC main class, target reader, and user age, and performing network analyses, the details and prominent mediating role of bibliographic attributes of reading materials were identified. The results of this study will be helpful in designing facets of reading information systems, including library OPAC, in the future.

본 연구는 독서자료의 접근점을 확장하기 위해, 도서이용 속성에 기반한 독서자료 분류체계를 고안하였다. 독서상황에서 도서 이용자가 고려할 수 있는 도서의 속성을 내용분석하여 주제명에 반영하고, 네트워크 분석을 통해 주제명 항목과 인접한 항목들을 연관 주제명으로 그룹화하여 함께 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 독서자료분류표(RMC)는 도서관 OPAC을 비롯한 독서정보 시스템 내에서 도서 이용자의 탐색을 돕는 다양한 접근점을 제공하는 도구로써 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

Abstract

In this study, in order to expand the access points of reading materials, a reading material classification (RMC) system based on the facets of book use was devised. The facets of books that can be considered by book users in the reading situation were content-analyzed. Also, through network analysis, subject headings adjacent to one subject heading were grouped into related subject headings. The RMC developed in this study can be used as a tool that provides various access points to help book users search in the library OPAC and other reading information systems.

본 연구는 문헌정보학 분야 연구논문에서 저자들의 이론 활용 정도를 분석하기 위하여 한국문헌정보학회지와 정보관리학회지를 대상으로 지난 30년간 연구된 654편의 논문에 대한 내용분석이 이루어졌다. 주요 연구내용은 연구논문의 연대별 생산성, 세부주제영역별 생산성, 연구에 활용된 이론의 유형과 근원, 개별 이론별 활용도, 세부주제 영역별 활용도, 학회지별 활용도 등에 대한 개념적 연구와 실증적 연구가 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 이론의 개념적 기준 설정과 문헌정보연구의 세부주제영역에 대한 새로운 분류 체계, 특히 이론의 활용성을 평가하기 위한 기준으로 ‘이론 활용 5단계’ 모델을 제시하였다.

Abstract

This study analyzed authorsuse of theory in 654 articles that appeared in two core library and information science journals during last three decades. In order to analyze degree of theory use of LIS, such as, publication productivity, growth and distribution of theory in subfields, name and origin of theory, usability of each theory, subfields and journals, and so on, content analysis of LIS theories was performed through conceptual and empirical study. For the purpose of this study, we suggested a couple of new analytical methods, so called, 'Subfield Classification Scheme' within LIS, and '5 Degrees of Theory Use' model for the first time.

Abstract

In recent years, the changes in information technology have been so dramatic and the rate of changes has increased so much that information science research rigorously evolves with the passage of time and proliferates in diverging research directions dynamically. The aims of this study are to provide a global overview of research trends in information science and to trace its changes in the main topics over time. The study examined the topics of research articles published in JASIST between 1985 and 2009 and identified its changes during five 5 year periods. The study found that the most productive area has consistently been ‘Information Retrieval’, followed by ‘Informetrics’, ‘Information Use and Users’, ‘Network and Technology’, and ‘Publishing and Services’. Information retrieval is a predominant core area in Information Science covering computer-based handling of multimedia information, employment of new semantic methods from other disciplines, and mass information handling on virtual environments. Currently Informetric studies shift from finding existing phenomena to seeking valuable descriptive results and researchers of information use have concentrated especially on information-seeking aspects, so adding greater sophistication to the relatively simple approach taken in information retrieval.

대학도서관에서 제공하고 있는 디지털참고봉사의 현황을 이해하기 위하여 전국적인 조사를 수행하여 분석하였다. 2003년 7월 8일부터 7월 22일까지 직접 접속을 통한 관찰과 질문응답 기록을 통하여 데이터를 수집하였다. 우리나라 4년제 대학 중 171개 도서관이 디지털참고봉사를 제공하는 것으로 나타났으며, 접근수준, 명칭, 서비스방식, 웹폼, 서비스정책 등 디지털참고봉사 제공 관련 특성과 이용량, 응답비율, 질문유형 등 이용관련 특성을 분석하였다. 현황과 문제점이 식별되고, 도서관 서비스로 확립되기 위한 제언이 이루어졌다.

Abstract

To understand current state of the digital reference services in Korean academic libraries, a comprehensive examination and analysis was performed. Data was collected from July 8. 2003 to July 22. 2003, through direct site examination and recording the question and answer transcripts. The analysis focused on the provision characteristics and use of the digital reference services. Results revealed interesting findings and related problems. Suggestions for future development are provided.

본 연구에서는 공공도서관 단위로 드러나는 이용자의 정보요구 특성을 파악하기 위해, 서울시 8개 자치구 11개 공공도서관을 대상으로 각 도서관에서 대출 이용된 도서가 지니는 다양한 속성 정보에 기반하여 이용자 요구를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 도서관별로 이용자의 정보요구의 특성이 드러나고 있었으며, 이용대상, 이용목적/동기, 관심사/취향, 도서 장르, 주제와 연관된 두드러진 도서 이용양상을 파악할 수 있었다. 또한, 도서관별 저자에 대한 선호도도 존재하고 있었으며, 선호하는 저자의 역할에서의 차이도 드러났다. 본 연구의 결과는 이용자 요구에 기반한 차별화된 장서 개발과 서비스 프로그램 개발을 위한 가이드라인을 제공하는 데 도움이 될 것이다.

Abstract

In this study, in order to understand the characteristics of the users’ information needs for each public library unit, the user needs were analyzed based on the various attribute information of the books loaned to 11 public libraries in 8 districts in Seoul. As a result, the prominent book use patterns of the libraries were revealed, specifically related to the target user groups, purpose/motivation, interests/preferences, book genre, and subject. In addition, there was a preference for authors, and a difference in the role of the preferred authors in each library was also revealed. The results of this study will help to provide guidelines for the development of differentiated collections and service programs based on user needs.
