본 연구의 목적은 이용자의 스마트폰 무선신호를 이용하여 이용자가 공공도서관 공간을 어떻게 이용하는지에 대한 이용행태를 분석하는 것이다. 공간이용 데이터를 수집하는 방법으로 이용자의 스마트폰 무선신호를 감지하여 이용자의 동선을 추적하였고 수집된 데이터를 로데이터로 하여 추가적인 분석을 진행하였다. 서울 시내 한 구립도서관에서 4개월 동안 수집된 이용자 공간이용 데이터를 분석한 결과, 전월 대비 평균 37.9%의 이용자들이 익월에도 이용을 하는 것으로 나타났고 이용자 중의 50%는 7분 미만으로 도서관에 머무는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 도서관을 이용하는 시간을 분석한 결과, 오후 2-3시 사이에 이용자들이 가장 많았으며 주말 오후 5시 이후에는 이용자가 매우 적게 나타났다. 층간 공간이동을 분석한 결과, 서가가 위치한 3층과 4층 사이의 공간이동이 유사하게 높게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 스마트폰 무선신호를 이용한 도서관 공간이용행태를 분석하는 방법론이 기존에 주로 사용되었던 관찰을 통한 분석보다 효과적임을 제시하고 있다. 따라서 향후 도서관 공간이용 분석에 적극 활용된다면 도서관 공간운영의 활용성을 높일 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze library space use patterns through users’ smartphone WiFi. This study is applied a method to detect WiFi signal of users’ smartphone to analyze the in-library wayfinding of users. The library usage data were collected for four months in a library in Seoul, Korea. The results show that the average 37.9% of library users revisits the library the next month. Half of users stay under 7 minutes in the library. Users mainly visit the library between 2 and 3 o’clock, and few users visit the library after 5 pm on weekends. The floor moving pattern result shows that the co-visit rate between the third and fourth floor is higher than others, in that these two floors are mainly composed of book shelves. These results indicate that the method to detect the WiFi signal for spatial pattern analysis could be more effective than observation which was used in previous research. It, therefore, is expected that this method would be applied in other libraries to analyze and enhance the library space usage.

본 연구의 목적은 전자저널 컨소시엄 참여기관의 현황과 그들의 요구를 분석함으로써 KESLI 운영의 문제점과 활성화를 위한 방안을 마련하고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위해, 참여기관을 대상으로 컨소시엄 선정 및 관리, 평가의 항목으로 구성된 설문지를 배부하였고 응답한 179개의 설문지를 분석하였다. 분석결과, KESLI 참여기관은 장서개발정책, 편목, 이용자교육 및 평가방법에 대한 요구를 나타냈다. 따라서 KESLI는 참여기관의 요구를 반영하여 장서개발정책 마련을 위한 정책 예를 제공하고 편목의 간소화를 위한 시스템을 마련해야 한다. 또한 기관에서의 이용자교육의 효과를 높이기 위해서 교재 및 프로그램을 개발지원하며 평가방법 및 기술에 대한 교육을 실시해야 한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to improve the KESLI consortium by analyzing the status of participant organizations and their needs. A survey questionnaire including questions on consortium selection, management, and evaluation was distributed. The findings from the 179 responses indicate that the needs of the participants include issues related to the collection development policy, the cataloging of e-journals, user education, and evaluation. Therefore, KESLI should provide the following: (1) examples of collection development policy used for reference, (2) system development for e-journal cataloging, (3) materials and program guidelines for user education, and (4) education related to evaluation techniques for e-journal usages.

본 연구의 목적은 대학도서관 이용자의 도서관 이용행태를 분석하여 대학도서관 공간 활용의 효율성을 제고하는 데 있다. 도서관 이용행태를 분석하기 위해 본 연구는 이용자들이 직접 자신들의 행동을 기록하는 다이어리 기법을 이용했다. 총 108명이 참여를 했고 이들 중 84명이 다이어리를 작성했다. 제출된 다이어리 중 내용을 충실히 작성한 14명의 참여자와 도서관 이용행태, 이용시 문제점 및 요구사항 등에 대한 인터뷰를 진행했다. 다이어리와 인터뷰 분석결과, 공간계획 측면에서 이용되지 않은 공간이나 기기들의 이용률 향상을 위한 방안마련과 서가 브라우징을 통한 정보접근 향상을 위한 방법을 제안했다. 또한 도서관 이용시간 분석을 통해 학생들의 이용행태 및 이용률 제고 방안을 논의했다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to enhance the efficiency of library space usage through analyzing users’ behavior in an academic library. Diary methodology was applied for collecting users’ activities in the library. 108 students participated in this study, but 84 students submitted their diaries. Among them, 14 participants were interviewed to identify barriers and their needs in using the library. The findings suggest rearranging IT devices to increase use rate of those devices, making plans for reusing the space where it is rarely used, and improving the accessibility of information through browsing in the bookstack area. Additionally, time analysis of users’ activities was used to analyze students’ behavior in the library.
