본 연구의 목적은 우리나라 어린이도서관 온라인목록의 인터페이스를 분석하여 문제점을 진단하고, 기존시스템의 개선과 새로운 시스템의 설계 시에 고려해야 할 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 먼저 국가도서관통계시스템에 2011년 12월 현재 등록되어 있는 공공어린이도서관 77개관의 홈페이지에 접근하여 온라인 검색 기능이 제공되고 있는 시스템을 분석하고, 추가로 확인 가능한 어린이도서관 온라인목록을 분석하였다. 인터페이스의 특성을 약간 달리하더라도 동일한 유형의 시스템을 사용하는 어린이도서관의 수를 확인하여 많은 수의 도서관이 사용하는 시스템 유형을 우선적으로 분석의 대상으로 선정하였다. 또한 소수의 도서관이 사용하는 시스템이라도 그 특성을 달리하는 시스템을 분석 대상에 포함시켰다. 위와 같은 과정을 통하여 선정된 분석 대상 온라인목록의 유형은 총 7가지이다. 7가지 유형에 대하여 각각 검색방식, 검색결과의 제시화면, 용어 사용상의 문제, 제공하는 기능의 측면에서 분석하여 문제점을 진단하고 개선방향을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze and evaluate the characteristics of online catalogs’ interface of children’s libraries, and to propose how to design user-friendly interfaces. The online catalogs of 77 children’s libraries which are registered on the National Library Statistics System as of December 2011 were analyzed. They are categorized into 7 types based on interface’s characteristics. Such topics as the features of search methods, the record display formats, the terminology usage, and the special features of the 7 types were examined and discussed. Some shortcomings were examined and how to improve them was suggested.

웹기반 온라인목록의 이용자 인터페이스는 이용자에게 더욱 친근하게 개선되었는가. 웹기반 온라인목록이 제공하는 탐색관련 기능은 어떠한가. 이용자들은 웹기반 온라인목록을 이용하는 데 어려움은 없는가. 이용자들은 웹기반 온라인목록에 대하여 어떤 인식을 가지고 있는가. 이런 문제에 대한 답을 통하여 웹기반 온라인목록의 검색도구로서의 문제점을 파악하고 개선방안을 제시하였다. 실험연구를 수행하였으며, 30명의 탐색자가 실험에 참여하였다. 탐색자가 웹기반 온라인목록을 실제로 탐색하는 과정중에 보이는 행태를 분석하여 데이터를 입수하였고, 탐색 후 질문지를 통하여 시스템에 대한 인식을 측정하였다.
Abstract
The primary questions addressed by this research are the followings : Has the interface of a Web-based OPAC been improved more user-friendly; How about its searching abilities; What difficulties have Web-based OPAC searchers experienced in using a Web OPAC; How do they perceive the system after use of it. Finding the answers of those questions the problems of a Web OPAC as a searching tool have been grasped and recommendations have been suggested in order to improve the system. An experiment was conducted and 30 university students performed 8 searching tasks. The searching behavior of Web OPAC searchers has been analyzed thoroughly. The data of their perceptions about the system was collected through a questionnaire after completing the tasks.

본 연구의 목적은 우리나라 초등학교 도서관 온라인목록의 인터페이스를 분석하여 문제점을 진단하고, 기존시스템의 개선과 새로운 시스템의 설계시에 고려해야 할 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 초등학교 도서관 온라인목록은 대략 6가지 유형으로 구분할 수 있었고, 6가지 유형에 대하여 각각 검색방식, 검색결과의 제시, 용어사용상의 문제, 제공하는 기능의 측면에서 분석하였다. 브라우징을 통한 주제접근방식에서 지나치게 광범한 주제 분류, 검색어입력방식에서 지나치게 많은 선택가능한 검색항목의 수, 초기치 설정 문제, 자료유형의 지나친 세분화, 간략서지와 상세서지에 포함시킬 데이터요소와 배열순서, 용어사용의 불일치, 축약형 사용, 도움말 메시지의 부재 등 문제점을 진단하고 개선방향을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze and evaluate the characteristics of online catalogs’ interface of elementary school libraries, and to propose how to design user-friendly interfaces. The online catalogs of elementary school libraries are categorized into 6 types. Such topics as the features of search methods, the record display formats, the terminology usage, and the special features of the 6 types are discussed. Some shortcomings are examined and how to improve them is suggested.
