본 연구는 기존의 연구성과 분석의 한계를 극복하고 영향력이나 파급효과 등 질적 중심의 연구성과 분석을 위해 텍스트 마이닝, 인용 분석 등을 활용한 새로운 계량정보학적 분석지표를 제안하였다. 즉, 논문품질지수, 인용 영향력지수, 지식확산지수, 국제협력연구지수, 우수논문 생산지수 등 새로운 연구성과 분석지표를 제안하여 질적인 측면을 중심으로 한 연구성과 분석이 가능하도록 하였다. 그리고 제안된 지표를 활용하여 사례분석을 수행하여 그 가능성을 확인하였다.

Abstract

There are some limitations in the existing bibliometric methods to satisfy the various requests of the interest parties including researchers, managers, policy makers to identify 1) which research group or researcher is the key player, and the overall trends of the particular technological sub-fields, 2) which research groups, institutions or countries mainly use their research outputs, 3) what are the spin-offs from research outputs to some scientific and technological fields, 4) in which levels they are when comparing their quantitative and qualitative research outputs to those of other competitive institutions. It is essential to develop new informetric indicators and methodologies in order to satisfy stakeholder's various demands and to strengthen qualitative analysis in measuring research performance. This study suggested informetric indicators such as article quality index, citation impact index, international cooperation index, excellent article production index and methodologies including citation analysis, text mining.

Abstract

In this study, research topic areas in Korean and American medical schools were analyzed to detect each nation’s major research areas. CLINICAL NEUROLOGY was identified as the Korean researchers’ major subject area by the total number of journals and ‘RADIOLOGY, NUCLEAR MEDICINE & MEDICAL IMAGING’ was the most major area by the total number of articles. On the other hand, American researchers’ top major subject area was the one same area according to all analysis, BIOCHEMISTRY & MOLECULAR BIOLOGY. In addition, Korean researchers showed publishing tendency related to journal preference in several subject areas.

Abstract

Electronic publishing has influenced, and in some ways changed, information seeking, reading patterns and citation behaviours. This study collected the Cited Half-Lives, the indicator implies the life-span of scholarly journals, from JCR Social Science edition the before and after of the prevalence of electronic journals, and observed if there are some changes in these two periods. The analysis results of eight disciplines show that the average Cited Half-Lives increased in 2007 than in 1994 for seven disciplines except the demography. Especially in the four disciplines of economics, education, finance and sociology, the average Cited Half-Lives increased significantly. This results show that the concentration, researchers cite more recent articles and concentrate their citations on fewer ones, is lightening and the dispersion of citations is actually increasing. With the online availability of articles and journals the old online materials can be often accessed, used and cited more frequently, the more growth potential of Cited Half-Lives are made in a digital environment. Further research needs to investigate if the phenomenon will become more obvious in various disciplines after a few years.

새로운 기술의 발달과 병행하는 정보이용환경의 급격한 변화는 정보원의 이용 및 정보서비스에 대한 새로운 고찰을 요구한다. 이용자 정보추구의 올바른 이해는 정보서비스의 향상에 핵심적인 역할을 하고 있으므로 변화하는 정보이용환경에 따라 이용자의 정보추구를 시기적절하게 새롭게 고찰할 필요가 있다. 많은 이전 연구들이 이용자 정보추구에 초점을 맞추고 있으나 의사들의 정보추구, 특히 진료정보 및 의학지식 추구를 동시에 대상으로 한 연구는 거의 없다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 진료와 의학연구를 동시에 수행하는 대학병원의 강사인 의사들의 정보추구행태를 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 본 연구는 연세의료원 강사 12명을 대상으로 개방형 반구조화 형식의 심층 면접을 통하여 수집하였다. 면접 내용은 크게 연구 환경, 진료와 관련된 정보 추구 행태, 선호하는 정보원과 자료 유형, 검색과정과 만족도의 4가지 주제로 구성하였다. 응답 결과 연구 목적의 정보추구에 있어서는 PubMed를 통한 전자학술지 대한 신뢰도가 더 높았으나 진료 목적인 경우에는 인쇄형태의 교과서를 더 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 정보원에 대한 권위와 근거를 매우 중요시하는 의사들의 태도에서 그 원인을 찾을 수 있다.

Abstract

Rapid change in information use environments that corresponds with the development of new technologies requires a new perspective in examining information source uses and information services. As understanding information seeking behaviors is an essential element for improving information services, the changing information seeking behaviors should be examined in a timely manner. While several prior studies focus on this topic, few studies deal with medical doctors’ information seeking behaviors especially focusing on information seeking in both medical practices and research. Thus, this study aims to explore the information seeking behaviors of medical doctors who are both medical practitioners and researchers. Data were obtained by open-ended and semi-structured in-depth interviews during one month from April to May, 2009. The interview-question topics ranged from research contexts, medical-practice-related information seeking behaviors, favorable information sources, and information search process and satisfaction. Findings include that, for research purpose, digital journal articles accessed through the PubMed were more favorable sources while, for practice purpose, printed textbooks were preferred. Overall, the most-frequently-used sources were PubMed and articles because medical doctors regard the reliability and authority very highly.

Abstract

This study explores knowledge structures of science and technology disciplines using a cocitation analysis of journal subject categories with the publication data of a science & technology oriented university in Korea. References cited in the articles published by the faculty of the university were analyzed to produce MDS maps and network centralities. For the whole university research domain, six clusters were created including clusters of Biology related subjects, Medicine related subjects, Chemistry plus Engineering subjects, and multidisciplinary sciences plus other subjects of multidisciplinary nature. It was found that subjects of multidisciplinary nature and Biology related subjects function as central nodes in knowledge communication network in science and technology. Same analysis procedure was applied to two natural science disciplines and another two engineering disciplines to present knowledge structures of the departmental research domains.
