본 연구는 도서관 현장에서의 요구하는 인력 현황을 살펴보고, 정보조직학 교육의 개선 방안을 모색하기 위하여 정보조직 사서직에서 필요로 하는 역량과 직무 유형을 분석하였다. 미국 도서관의 채용공고 298건을 대상으로 조사․분석한 결과 기존의 자격요건들의 수요가 지속되고 있으며, 새로운 환경 변화를 반영한 표준 및 전자자원 관련 요구가 추가되었음을 확인하였다. 정보조직 직무 유형은 크게 전통적인 정보조직의 특성이 반영된 것과 전자자원, 정보기술의 특성이 반영된 것으로 나눌 수 있었다. 또한 정보조직 교육의 개선을 위하여 전자자원 교육의 확대, 이론과 실습의 조화, 정보기술 활용의 강화, 새로운 교수 방법의 적용을 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study analysed the librarian competencies and job type to identify the present state of required librarians and to suggest the direction for education in the organization of information. As the result of investigation 278 job announcement, the traditional qualifications and the knowledge of new standard and S/W related electronic resources are required. The job type divided between cluster for the traditional demands and cluster for electronic resources and information technology. It proposed the expansion of education related electronic resources and information technology, the balance of theory and practice, and the adoption of new teaching method for education in the organization of information.

본 연구는 국내 대학도서관의 전자자원 메타데이터와 관련된 현황을 살펴보고, 정보조직 패러다임 및 목록 환경의 변화에 대응하기 위한 방향성을 제시하기 위함이다. 국내 대학도서관의 전자자원 도입 및 조직과 최근 정보자원 조직의 동향을 살펴보았고, 디지털콘텐츠 구축 건수 상위 30개 대학도서관의 홈페이지를 방문하여 현황과 문제점을 조사하였다. 앞으로 전자자원을 포함한 다양한 유형의 정보자원을 통합적으로 관리하고, 접근성을 강화하여 이용자들에게 확장된 목록의 기능을 제공하여야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This study attempts to investigate the current practice of electronic resources in the academic libraries and to explore the changes of paradigm in the organization of information. It reviewed how academic libraries have acquired and organized electronic resources. It also investigated the library home pages of 30 academic libraries in order to identify the category of electronic resources, metadata, and linkage methods with various material types such as printed resources and theses. To perform extended functions of library catalogs, it is essential for academic libraries to manage the metadata of various resources together and provide enhanced access and linkage of related resources.

통합서지용 KORMARC 형식이 발간됨에 따라 그동안 자료유형별로 각각 발간되었던 KORMARC의 문제점들이 상당 부분 해결되었고, 도서관 현장에서는 통합서지용 KORMARC 형식의 도입에 대한 관심이 모아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 통합서지용 KORMARC 형식 적용의 필요성을 살펴보고, 실제적인 적용을 위한 고려사항 및 그 절차와 방법을 제시하였다. 통합서지용 KORMARC 형식의 효과적 적용을 위해서는 데이터 적용 범위를 먼저 결정하고, 데이터 변환 및 관련 프로그램의 개발이 필요하다. 본 연구가 통합서지용 KORMARC에 대한 이해를 공유하고, 적용을 고려 중인 기관과 상용 도서관시스템 업체들에게 실제적인 방향을 제공하리라 기대한다.
Abstract
As the development of the new integrated KORMARC format is completed and the problems of KORMARC aroused by different formats by different material types are settled, librarians’ interests have increased in adopting the new integrated format. This article attempts to demonstrate the necessity of adopting the new format and suggests some considering points in its application process. To effectively adopt the new format, firstly the scope of new format application should be decided, and then data conversion and related program development should be followed. It is hoped that this article will raise the understanding of the integrated KORMARC format and give some guidelines to libraries considering its adoption and library system vendors.
