본 논문에서는 우리나라의 지역간 도서관 정보격차 실태를 분석하기 위하여 한국도서관연감에 수록되어 있는 공공도서관, 대학도서관, 학교도서관의 주요지표인 인구수, 건물면적, 소장자료수, 직원수, 운영예산, 이용자수, 대출책수를 표본으로 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 경기수도권, 강원충청권, 부산영남권, 광주호남권 등 4개 권역별로 구분하여 통계적으로 변인 상호간에 유의한 차이와 상관관계가 있는지를 평균분석과 상관분석을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 3개의 관종에서는 공공도서관이 지역별 정보격차가 가장 심한 것으로 나타났고, 다음이 학교도서관, 대학도서관 순으로 나타났으므로 정보격차 해소를 위한 정책에서는 공공도서관이 가장 우선되어야 한다. 4개 권역의 정보격차에서는 경기수도권으로 도서관정보가 집중되어 있으므로 이를 해소하기 위한 지역간 균형 있는 도서관 정보 정책이 필요하다고 할 수 있다.
Abstract
The numbers of population, areas, possessions, employees, operational budget, users, and circulated books in Korea Library Yearbook were collected for the purpose of analyzing the status of information disparity through libraries among four large regional groups in Korea in this paper. They were the main indicators of four types of libraries such as public, academic, special, and school ones. The collected data were classified into four regional groups, and were analyzed by using the comparisons of means such as t-test and ANOVA, and correlation coefficient if there is any significant differences among them or not.

사회가 발전하면서 자원봉사는 보편화되어 가고 있으며, 공공도서관 자원봉사도 양적, 질적 증가를 보이고 있다. 이에 본 논문은 공공도서관 자원봉사의 운영과 관리 실태를 분석하고 공공도서관 자원봉사의 활성화를 도모하기 위하여, 먼저 공공도서관 자원봉사에 대한 이론적 배경을 살펴본 후, 설문조사를 통하여 현재 우리나라 공공도서관 자원봉사의 운영과 관리 실태를 기획부문, 자원봉사자 관리부문, 행정부문으로 나누어 조사하고, 이를 바탕으로 공공도서관 자원봉사의 활성화 방안과 전망을 제시함으로써 도서관 자원봉사의 운영 및 관리에 대한 이해 증진에 일조함에 그 목적이 있다.
Abstract
As the volunteer activity has become universal, volunteers of public libraries have also grown both quantitatively and qualitatively. In this context, this study builds a theoretical background on the volunteer activity of public libraries; examines the volunteer activity management of public libraries using survey method including its planning, personal management and administration; and suggests some recommendations to promote the voluntary activity of public libraries. By so doing, this study aims at enhancing our understanding on the volunteer activity management of public libraries.

본 연구는 공공도서관의 이용자 수에 어떠한 요인들이 얼마만큼의 영향을 미치는 지를 종합적으로 분석하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울지역 공립 공공도서관 55개를 대상으로 각 도서관의 연간 이용자 수에 영향을 미치는 요인을 크게 5가지 측면, 즉 인적측면, 장서측면, 예산측면, 행사측면, 기타측면에서 분석하였다. 그 결과 공공도서관의 좌석 수가 도서관 이용자 수와 가장 큰 상관관계가 있고, 이어 건물연면적과 사서 수 역시 비교적 높은 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 회귀모형의 유의성을 검증하고자 다중회귀분석을 실시한 결과에서는 오직 좌석 수만이 도서관의 이용자 수에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 향후 공공도서관에서의 이용자 수 확보를 위한 방안을 수립할 때 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to comprehensively analyze which kind of factors have an effect on the number of users in the public libraries. For this, this study analyzed various factors, such as personnel, collection, budget, event, influenced on the number of their users of 55 public libraries in Seoul. The results of this study indicated that the number of users in the public libraries is influenced by the number of their seat, librarian, the building size and the number of librarian. Besides, the result of multiple regression analysis to verify these regression models was revealed that the factor influenced on the number of users of public libraries is only the number of seat. The result of this study is expected to practically use in establishing the plan to increase the number of their users in public libraries.

건축물로서의 도서관을 설계하고 나서, 이용자들이 사용하기 편리한 공간은 어떤 곳일까 하는 테마는 매우 중요하다. 본 논문은 과천정보과학도서관을 이용한 이용자의 행동조사결과를 근거로 하여 도서관내의 공간배치 재구성을 제안하였다. 이것은 도서관이용자의 만족도 향상을 목표로 한 도서관 마케팅 관점에서 볼 때 큰 의의가 있다. 다음으로는 일본규슈대학부속도서관(중앙 도서관)의 도서관 이용자 테이블 이용 상황을 조사한 결과를 고찰하였다. 마지막으로는 도서관 공간배치에 관하여 제언하였다.
Abstract
It is very important for libraries to provide their patrons with spaces that are used comfortably. In this paper, first we propose some improvement plans for space organizations of Gwacheon Public Library based on its patrons' behavioral research. It has a big meaning from the view of library marketing, which aims at improving patrons' satisfaction. Then we investigate how study tables are used based on the data taken at Kyushu University Library in Japan. Finally we put some proposals on libraries' space organization based on these investigations.

국가도서관은 문화유산의 일환으로 국가의 출판물을 망라적으로 수집하고 보존한다. 본 연구는 서지대조법을 활용하여 국립중앙도서관의 판매도서 포괄성을 측정하였다. 2007년과 2008년 출판 도서에 대해 교보문고 판매용목록을 기준서지로 설정하고 10%를 체계적으로 표집한 후, 국립중앙도서관 온라인목록을 탐색함으로써 수록 비율을 측정하였다. 탐색 시점에서, 2007년 출판 도서의 포괄성은 92.25%, 2008년 출판 도서의 포괄성은 78.10%, 누적 포괄성은 85.16%로 나타났다. 주제별 분석에 따라 포괄성이 낮은 분야를 알 수 있었고, 미소장도서의 출판사 규모를 분석하였으며, 국내외 선행연구 결과와 포괄성을 비교하였다. 납본지연 등 불완전한 수집의 원인이 식별되었으며, 포괄성 향상 및 후속 연구를 위하여 제언하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of the national library is to collect all publications as part of the national heritage and preserve them. This study is undertaken to determine the coverage of the book collection of the National Library of Korea. Bibliographies for the year 2007 and 2008 publications are obtained from the Kyobo Book Centre and sampled 10 % systematically to be used as checklists. Coverage was determined by searching the citations against the OPAC of the National Library of Korea. Results indicate 92.25% of coverage for the books published in 2008, 78.10% coverage for the books published in 2007, and the cumulative coverage is 85.16%. The analysis shows time lag and subject fields with low coverage. Results are compared with previous studies. Reasons for the unpossessed books, such as delay of deposit and publisher characteristics, are identified. Recommendations for the coverage improvements and future research are suggested.

본 연구는 전국적으로 공공도서관 디지털자료실 구축사업이 완료된 이후 약 5년이 경과한 현 시점에서 디지털자료실의 운영 현황을 조사․분석한 결과를 토대로 향후 디지털 자료실의 활성화와 효율적인 운영 방안을 모색해 보았다. 그 결과, 무엇보다도 인프라 측면의 보완 및 개선이 가장 시급한 것으로 드러났다. 또한 공공도서관 디지털자료실의 향후 운영 방안으로는 크게 디지털자료실 통합운영체계 구축과 디지털자료실 기능 다변화를 추진하여야 한다. 먼저 공공도서관 디지털자료실의 운영실태 조사 내용과 활성화 전략을 다각도로 검토한 결과, 현 시점에서는 디지털자료실에서 가능한 부문을 위주로 최대한 통합하여 운영하는 것이 최선의 대안이 될 수 있다. 다음으로 공공도서관 디지털자료실의 기능 다변화는 기존의 디지털자료실 기능에 다양한 유형의 원자료 및 전용 어플리케이션을 활용한 정보의 제작뿐만 아니라 교육 기능, 참고정보서비스 기능, 온라인/오프라인 커뮤니티 형성 및 정보공유 활성화 기능 등을 추가 또는 강화하여 효율적으로 추진할 수 있다. 이를 통해 향후 공공도서관 디지털자료실은 단순한 인터넷 정보의 접근 및 이용을 위한 장소에서 사서와 이용자, 이용자와 이용자간 커뮤니케이션의 활성화는 물론 정보나 지식의 공유 및 협력활동을 위한 온라인/오프라인 공간으로 발전되어야 할 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find methods for utilizing digital room in public library and its efficient operation by analyzing the status quo of the digital rooms in public libraries, which had been built nation-widely about 5 years ago. It is found that it is urgent to supplement and improve the infrastructure of them. It is also required to build multi-functional digital rooms and an integrated operational system for digital rooms. Implementation of an integrated operational system, first of all, for applicable sections of digital room may be the best alternative. The multi-functional digital rooms can be built, which, in addition to its traditional function, can include a variety of original information resources and function of information creation using application programs, as well as functions such as education, information services, online/offline community creation, and activating information sharing. In the future, the digital rooms in public libraries must play a significant role as online/offline spaces, which are not the places for use and access to internet information resource, but for information/knowledge sharing and collaborative activities. It also must provide a communication channel between librarians and users as well as among users themselves.
