공공도서관에서 제공하고 있는 디지털참고봉사의 현황과 발전을 이해하기 위하여, 전국의 공공도서관 홈페이지를 직접 접속하여 관찰하고 이용 데이터를 수집하여 분석하였으며. 2003년에 수집하였던 데이터와 비교하였다. 모두 404개의 디지털참고봉사 사이트에 대하여, 접근수준, 서비스방식, 링크명칭, 서비스정책, 웹폼, FAQ 등 서비스 제공 관련 특성을 분석한 후, 15일간 수행된 질문응답 데이터를 수집하여 이용도서관, 이용수준, 응답비율, 질문유형 등 서비스 성능을 분석하였다. 서비스 현황에 대한 이해와 문제점, 그리고 4년 동안에 걸친 변화가 식별되었으며, 향후 발전을 위한 제언이 이루어졌다.
Abstract
To understand the present status and the development of the digital reference service in Korean public libraries, a nationwide site observation was attempted in 2007. The collected data was analyzed, then compared with the previous analysis based on a 2003 data. For the 404 sites offering digital reference, operational characteristics, such as access level, service mode, link description, policy, web form, and FAQ, are analyzed. Performance analysis focused on the presence of question posting, volume of usage, response rate, and types of the questions, for the data collected for 15 days through question and answer transcript recording. Results reveal findings on the present situation as well as changes over 4 years.Related problems are identified. The conclusion includes suggestions for improving digital reference service.
초록
노령화사회에서 노인을 위한 서비스는 도서관의 새로운 도전이다. 본 연구는 노인의 독서 장애요인과 노안에 대해 살펴보고, 노인의 독서를 용이하게 만드는 한글 큰글자도서의 출판과 수집 및 이용가능성을 조사하였다. 큰글자도서의 출판과 유통에 대하여는 국립중앙도서관 소장 서지리스트와 교보문고의 재고 리스트를 기초로 하고, 공공도서관에서 접근가능한 큰글자도서는 한국도서관협회가 보급한 큰글자도서 리스트와 기존의 도서관 장애인서비스 현황조사 데이터를 기초로 하여, 이용가능한 큰글자도서의 유형, 종수와 권수, 출판연도, 주제, 중복성 등을 분석하였다. 분석결과에 따라 문제점을 식별하고 큰글자도서의 서지통정, 수집 확대, 도서관의 노인 독서 진흥 방안 및 후속 연구를 제언하였다.
Abstract
Services for the elderly is a new challenge for the libraries in aging society. This study reviewed the obstacles faced by the old readers and presbyopia, and analyzed the states of the large-print books to understand and estimate the Korean large-print books availability. Based on the bibliographic list of large-print books collected by the National Library of Korea, large-print book stock list of the Kyobo Book Center, large-print book lists supplied to the libraries by the Korean Library Association, and the data of the previous Library Survey for the Disabled, number of titles and volumes, publication year, duplication, and subject field of the large-print books available are analyzed. Based on the results, problems are identified and recommendations for bibliographic control, collection development, reading promotion, and further research area are suggested.

노인들을 위한 정보서비스는 우리나라 공공도서관의 새로운 도전이다. 공공도서관을 주체로 하는 인터넷기반 노인정보서비스를 개발하기 위하여 노인들의 정보원 정보요구 그리고 정보이용 현황을 조사하였다. 1060명의 노인에 대한 면접조사를 수행하여 분석한 결과, 노인들은 대중매체와 비공식 구두 커뮤니케이션을 선호하며, 요구정보는 건강의료, 뉴스, 취미, 종교, 레저여행의 순서로 나타났다. 23%에 해당하는 인터넷 이용 노인들의 활용현황과 인터넷 비이용자들의 장애요인을 식별하였다. 분석결과와 선행연구를 기초로 하여, 정보개발 참고봉사 인터페이스 교육 등으로 구성된 서비스 개발 모델과 협동운영방식을 제안하였고 향후 발전을 위한 문제점과 개선방안을 제시하였다.
Abstract
Information service for the aged is a new challenge for public libraries in Korea. To develop an internet-based information service at public library perspectives, information sources, information need, and information seeking and using behavior are investigated. Interview survey is performed to 1060 adults aged 60 and over. Finding revealed that the respondents led to few channels to information except for mass media and informal oral communication. It ascertain ways in which 23% of the respondents currently use internet, and identify barriers of nonusers. The information need of the elderly are diverse, but health/medicine, news, hobbies, religion, leisure/travel are most identified need in descending order. Based on data analysis and previous research results, a cooperative service model consisting of information contents, online reference, interface design, and education is developed. Finally problems and suggestions for future improvement are discussed.

국가도서관은 문화유산의 일환으로 국가의 출판물을 망라적으로 수집하고 보존한다. 본 연구는 서지대조법을 활용하여 국립중앙도서관의 판매도서 포괄성을 측정하였다. 2007년과 2008년 출판 도서에 대해 교보문고 판매용목록을 기준서지로 설정하고 10%를 체계적으로 표집한 후, 국립중앙도서관 온라인목록을 탐색함으로써 수록 비율을 측정하였다. 탐색 시점에서, 2007년 출판 도서의 포괄성은 92.25%, 2008년 출판 도서의 포괄성은 78.10%, 누적 포괄성은 85.16%로 나타났다. 주제별 분석에 따라 포괄성이 낮은 분야를 알 수 있었고, 미소장도서의 출판사 규모를 분석하였으며, 국내외 선행연구 결과와 포괄성을 비교하였다. 납본지연 등 불완전한 수집의 원인이 식별되었으며, 포괄성 향상 및 후속 연구를 위하여 제언하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of the national library is to collect all publications as part of the national heritage and preserve them. This study is undertaken to determine the coverage of the book collection of the National Library of Korea. Bibliographies for the year 2007 and 2008 publications are obtained from the Kyobo Book Centre and sampled 10 % systematically to be used as checklists. Coverage was determined by searching the citations against the OPAC of the National Library of Korea. Results indicate 92.25% of coverage for the books published in 2008, 78.10% coverage for the books published in 2007, and the cumulative coverage is 85.16%. The analysis shows time lag and subject fields with low coverage. Results are compared with previous studies. Reasons for the unpossessed books, such as delay of deposit and publisher characteristics, are identified. Recommendations for the coverage improvements and future research are suggested.
