본 연구의 목적은 대학도서관 이용자의 도서관 이용행태를 분석하여 대학도서관 공간 활용의 효율성을 제고하는 데 있다. 도서관 이용행태를 분석하기 위해 본 연구는 이용자들이 직접 자신들의 행동을 기록하는 다이어리 기법을 이용했다. 총 108명이 참여를 했고 이들 중 84명이 다이어리를 작성했다. 제출된 다이어리 중 내용을 충실히 작성한 14명의 참여자와 도서관 이용행태, 이용시 문제점 및 요구사항 등에 대한 인터뷰를 진행했다. 다이어리와 인터뷰 분석결과, 공간계획 측면에서 이용되지 않은 공간이나 기기들의 이용률 향상을 위한 방안마련과 서가 브라우징을 통한 정보접근 향상을 위한 방법을 제안했다. 또한 도서관 이용시간 분석을 통해 학생들의 이용행태 및 이용률 제고 방안을 논의했다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to enhance the efficiency of library space usage through analyzing users’ behavior in an academic library. Diary methodology was applied for collecting users’ activities in the library. 108 students participated in this study, but 84 students submitted their diaries. Among them, 14 participants were interviewed to identify barriers and their needs in using the library. The findings suggest rearranging IT devices to increase use rate of those devices, making plans for reusing the space where it is rarely used, and improving the accessibility of information through browsing in the bookstack area. Additionally, time analysis of users’ activities was used to analyze students’ behavior in the library.

본 연구는 A대학도서관의 효율성을 분석한 후 그 개선점을 제언하였다. 이를 위하여 A대학에 속해 있는 E그룹 대학도서관들의 효율성을 분석하고, 투입․산출요소의 세 가지 조건과 지역 범주별 조건을 구분하여 효율성을 측정하였다. 그 종합적인 결과는 E그룹의 38개 대학도서관과 A대학도서관은 투입요소를 증가시킴으로써 산출물을 증대시키는 방향으로 운영되어야 하며 이를 위한 개선방안으로는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학도서관에 대한 법적․제도적 근간을 마련하여 대학의 구성원들에게 도서관에 대한 인식을 고취시켜야 한다. 둘째, 도서관 이용교육이 교육과정에 편성되어야 한다. 셋째, 도서관이 책을 빌리고 컴퓨터를 사용하는 공간뿐만 아니라, 문화 공간 및 휴식공간으로 활용될 수 있도록 복합공간으로 마련되어야 한다.
Abstract
This study suggested improvements after analyzing the effectiveness of “A” university library. So, this study analyzed the effectiveness of E-group “A” university, and measured the effectiveness, classifying with three conditions about input & output and factors and conditions about regional categories. As a result, it is necessary to operate E-group 38 university libraries and “A” University library by increasing input factors to increase outputs. The improvements are as followings. First, it is necessary to stir up member’s recognition on libraries. To this, there is a legal system for university library. Second, it is necessary to include library use education in curriculum. Third, it is necessary to prepare complex space so that the members can borrow books and use it for cultural space and rest space.

최근 새로운 형태의 공공도서관 즉, 타시설과 한 건물 혹은 한 대지에 같이 건립되는 복합시설 공공도서관이 부각되었다. 새로운 형태의 공공도서관이 이용자의 우호적인 지지와 지자체의 적극적인 지원을 받기 위해서는 이에 대한 이용자들의 평가와 요구에 대한 분석을 바탕으로 한 도서관의 운영전략 및 건립방안이 세워져야 할 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 서울소재 28개관의 복합시설 공공도서관 이용자를 대상으로 도서관 이용만족도와 복합화에 대한 인식을 조사하기 위하여 설문조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과 복합시설 공공도서관 이용자들은 복합시설 도서관을 이용하면서 인적자원, 정보자원, 서비스, 환경, 지역사회의 유대에 대해 대체적으로 만족하고 있으며, 복합화에 대해서도 긍정적으로 인식하고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 복합시설 공공도서관이 이용자에게 더 만족할 수 있는 환경과 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 도서관에 대한 편리한 접근성, 충분한 도서관의 규모 확보, 외부소음 방지 방안, 복합이용의 시너지 효과를 보일 수 있는 타시설과 연계, 복합시설 내 타시설과의 연계 프로그램 활성화 등이 이루어져야 할 것이다.
Abstract
Recently, attention has been drawn to a new form of a public library, that is, a public library in a complex facility constructed in the same building or site with another facility. To get active users’ or local governments’ supports in the public library in a complex facility, it is necessary to build library strategic plans based on the analysis of users’ evaluation and demands. Thus, this study analyzed the user satisfaction and perception of the 28 public libraries in complex facilities in Seoul. As a result, it was found that most users overall satisfied with public libraries in complex facilities in terms of human resources, information resources, and the links among services and positively perceived their environments and services. In order to provide more satisfaction to the users in public libraries in complex facilities first, it is necessary to improve the accessibility of libraries, to secure the sufficient library space, to prevent the outside noise, to link the facilities which bring mutual synergistic effect, and to develop a program and service accompanying other facilities.
