본 논문은 다음과 같은 두 부분으로 구성된다. 논문의 전반부는 네 개의 정보검색 모형을 다루고 있는데 이는 전통적 정보검색 모형과 보다 최근에 나온 세 연구자의 이용자 중심 인터액티브 모형을 포함한다. 인터액티브 정보검색 모형은 Belkin, Ingwersen, 그리고 Saracevic 에 의하여 제시된 것인데, 전통적 정보검색 모형을 포함한 각 모형의 장점과 한계점이 기술된다. 논문의 후반부에서 저자는 이상과 같은 모형들의 분석을 토대로 그 자신의 인터액티브 모형, 즉 빙산모형(Iceberg Model)을 제시하고 있다. 빙산모형의 타당성으로 다음과 같은 세 가지 사항을 강조하고 있는데, 즉, 보다 구체화된 시스템 특성의 포함, 보다 명확한 인터액티브 정보검색 요소간의 상호작용, 그리고 정보매개자의 증가된 역할 등이 그것이다. 요약하면, 빙산모형은 변화하는 정보추구환경에서 진화할 수 있는 틀을 제시하고 있다.
Abstract
This paper is divided into two parts. The first part elaborates on four Information Retrieval (IR) models: a traditional IR model and three more recent, user-oriented models of IR interaction presented by Belkin, Ingwersen, and Saracevic. The strengths and limitations of each model are discussed. The second part, based on an analysis of the previous models, presents the author's interactive model, namely, the Iceberg Model. The rationales that are given to explain the design of this model are associated with the following: a greater specificity of system attributes; more concrete interplays among different components of IR interaction; and, the increased role of the Human Information Intermediary (HII). In sum, the new model presents a framework that can evolve in varying information-seeking contexts.

온라인 커뮤니티 사이트는 최근 크게 발전하고 있다. 그 이유는 인터넷이 개인생활 속에 깊숙이 침투하면서 사회 연결망, 즉 social networking 현상이 활성화되고 그에 따라 많은 사용자들이 특정 온라인 커뮤니티 사이트에서 다양한 정보활동을 하고 있기 때문이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 온라인 커뮤니티 사이트에 대한 중개자 신뢰와 시스템 신뢰가 해당 커뮤니티 내에서의 포럼활동에 대한 신뢰 및 정보품질 만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증분석을 하고자 한다. 실증분석을 위한 자료수집은 삼성경제연구소의 온라인 커뮤니티 사이트인 SERI ( HYPERLINK "http://www.seri.org" www.seri.org)를 대상으로 하였으며, 해당 SERI 사이트 내에서 SERI 포럼활동을 하고 있는 사용자들을 대상으로 하여 591명의 유의한 설문자료를 수집하였다. 실증분석결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, SERI의 중개자 신뢰와 시스템 신뢰는 해당 SERI 포럼의 정보품질과 시스템품질, 그리고 인지효과성에 긍정적인 영향을 준다. 둘째, SERI의 중개자 신뢰는 해당 SERI 포럼의 인지위험을 줄이는데 기여를 한다. 반면, SERI의 시스템 신뢰는 해당 SERI 포럼의 인지위험에는 유의한 영향을 주지 못한다. 이는 아무리 온라인 커뮤니티 사이트의 지명도가 높다고 하더라도 이는 해당 온라인 커뮤니티 내의 포럼 사용자가 느끼는 인지위험에는 유의한 영향을 주지 못하다는 것을 의미한다. 셋째, 그러나 SERI의 중개자 신뢰와 시스템 신뢰가 높을수록 해당 SERI 포럼의 신뢰와 정보품질만족에는 긍정적인 영향을 준다.
Abstract
With the advent of social networking activity on the Internet, online community sites are becoming more popular. The main purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the influence of intermediary trust and system trust on the forum activity trust and information quality satisfaction. We assume that the intermediary trust and system trust come from the online community site itself, while the forum activity is made within a specific forum allowed on the online community site, and therefore forum activity trust and information quality satisfaction are related to a specific forum. The 591 valid questionnaire data were gathered from the users acting in forums allowed on the Samsung Economic Research Institute (SERI) (www.seri.org). The empirical results are as follows. First, the SERI intermediary trust and its system trust have positive influence on the SERI forum information quality system quality, and perceived effectiveness. Second, the SERI intermediary trust contributes to reducing the SERI forum perceived risks, while the SERI system quality does not. Third, the higher the SERI intermediary trust is, the higher the SERI forum trust and information quality satisfaction increase.

정보사회에서 효율적인 정보전달서비스 방법가운데 대면서비스 외에 인터넷과 같은 커뮤니케이션 수단을 활용한 가상 정보서비스의 가능성도 제기되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 정보전달서비스 즉 정보의 제공과 전달을 가능케 하는 중요한 수단인 인터넷상의 정보매개체에 대한 중요성을 바탕으로 아바타를 활용하는 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 먼저 정보서비스의 개념과 인터넷의 발전에 따른 변화 등에 관한 이론 및 특징을 살펴본 뒤, 아바타에 관한 개념 및 현황 그리고 특성을 바탕으로 아바타의 현실적인 의미와 중요성을 강조하고자 한다. 그리고 보다 효율적인 정보서비스를 구현하기 위해서 아바타의 활용과 기대효과를 제안함으로써 인터넷상에서 보다 효율적인 정보전달서비스를 실현하는데 일조하고자 하였다.
Abstract
The importance of an efficient information delivery service cannot be overemphasized in the information society. In this context, this study, based upon the importance of information intermediary on the internet, tries to suggest the use of Avatars in information services. This study first examines the concepts, theories, and characteristics of information services and internet, along with the meaning and role played by Avatars. Also, by suggesting the use of Avatars in information services, this study aims at enhancing our understanding on the internet and providing efficient information services.

인터넷 정보검색과정에서 가장 보편적으로 사용되고 있는 검색방법은 키워드 검색이다. 키워드 검색은 정확률과 재현율의 관점에서 여러가지 단점을 지니고 있다. 이러한 키워드 검색의 단점을 보완해 줄 수 있는 장치로서 다수의 웹 포털에서 디렉토리 검색서비스를 제공하고 있다. 검색포털에서 제공하고 있는 디렉토리 서비스는 포털별로 상이한 분류체계를 사용하는 이유로 이용자에게 불편을 주고 있으며, 이러한 불편의 해소를 위해 디렉토리 서비스간 통합검색을 제공하는 중개 게이트웨이의 구축필요성이 제기되고 있다. 이에 따라 이 연구에서는 네이버, 야후, 엠파스 등 국내 주요 포털의 디렉토리 서비스를 대상으로 통합검색을 제공하는 중개 게이트웨이의 모형을 구축하고 그 성능을 평가하였다.
Abstract
The most widely used information searching method in the current internet environment is the keyword-based one, which has certain limitations in terms of precision and recall. Most major internet portals provide directory-based searching as a means to complement these limitations. However, that they adopt different classification schemes brings significant inconvenience to the users, and it consequently suggests a need to develop mapping gateway to provide cross-portal, or cross-directory information searching. In this context, this study attempts to develop a prototype system of intermediary gateway for integrated search, using the directory services of three major portals, Naver, Yahoo and Empas, and test its performance.
