코로나19로 인해 비대면 요소가 중요해지면서 메타버스가 사회적 주목을 받게 되었고, MZ세대는 공공도서관의 주 이용 세대가 되었다. 이러한 흐름에 비추어 볼 때, 공공도서관의 주 이용자인 MZ세대를 위한 서비스를 도입할 필요가 있으며, 사회적 발전에 맞춘 서비스를 제공할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 MZ세대를 중심으로 설문조사와 반구조화 면담을 통해 메타버스에 대한 인식을 조사한 후, 공공도서관에서 이용자를 대상으로 한 메타버스 적용에 대한 방안을 제안하였다. 연구의 결과에 따라 본 연구에서 제언한 공공도서관의 메타버스 도입을 위한 방향은 첫째, 메타버스에 대한 기초적인 교육과 정보 제공 둘째, 소통을 바탕으로 한 커뮤니티를 장점으로 한 서비스의 제공. 셋째, 시공간의 제약을 받지 않는 프로그램의 제공 넷째, 메타버스에 대한 사서들의 전문성 향상을 통한 사서에 의한 서비스가 제공. 다섯째, MZ세대를 위한 서비스 제공이다.
Abstract
As non-face-to-face elements became important due to COVID-19, the metaverse received social attention, and the MZ generation became the main users of public libraries. In light of this trend, it is necessary to introduce services for the MZ generation, the main users of public libraries, and to provide services tailored to social development. Therefore, this study investigated the perception of the metaverse through questionnaire surveys and semi-structured interviews, centered on the MZ generation, and then proposed a method for applying the metaverse to users in public libraries. According to the results of the study, the direction for the introduction of the metaverse in public libraries was suggested. First, it is necessary to provide basic education and information about the metaverse. Second, it is necessary to provide services that take advantage of the community based on communication. Third, a program that is not constrained by time and space should be provided. Fourth, services by librarians should be provided by enhancing the librarians’ expertise on the metaverse. Fifth, services for generation M must be provided.

COVID-19 펜데믹의 장기화로 인해 미래의 서비스 제공 수단으로 메타버스가 관심을 받기 시작하면서 그 중요성이 더욱 강조되며 여러 기관에서 메타버스 플랫폼들이 활용되고 있다. 이러한 배경에서 도서관에서 또한 메타버스 플랫폼을 활용하는 사례들이 점점 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 메타버스 플랫폼을 활용하고 있는 국내외 도서관 사례를 조사하여, 메타버스 플랫폼 활용 방식에 따른 플랫폼별 특징 및 콘텐츠 유형을 분석하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 따라서 분석 결과가 시사하는 바를 바탕으로, 향후 도서관에서 메타버스 플랫폼을 활용하고자 할 때의 그 방향성을 제언하였다.
Abstract
Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, metaverse has begun to receive attention as a means of providing future services. The importance of metaverse was further emphasized and metaverse platforms are being used by various institutions. Against this background, cases of using the metaverse platform in libraries are increasing. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate domestic and foreign library cases using the metaverse platform and analyze each platform’s characteristics and content types according to the metaverse platform’s method. Based on the findings, the implication of the current study suggests the future direction of using the metaverse platform in the library.
