최근 도서관에서는 실업률 증가와 지역사회 정신보건 문제 등 총체적인 사회적 현상과 맞물려서 도서관 서비스에 불만을 품거나 이상행동을 하는 이용자들이 도서관으로 유입되면서 많은 문제행동을 일으키고 있다. 일부 이용자의 문제행동은 다른 이용자의 이용만족에 있어서 가장 중요한 역할을 하는 도서관직원에게 부정적 영향을 미치고, 이는 결국 서비스의 불만족과 이로 인한 도서관 조직에 악영향을 끼치며 전반적인 도서관 서비스의 질적 저하를 유발하는 중요한 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 본 연구는 도서관서비스에 대한 이용자 만족도를 제고하고, 친절하고 품위 있는 공공서비스 문화의 선진화를 촉진하기 위여 국가 및 공공도서관 직원을 대상으로 도서관 응대서비스 문제점 및 문제이용자 현황과 응대서비스 매뉴얼 개발에 관련된 요구사항을 분석하여 일반이용자 및 문제이용자 응대서비스 매뉴얼을 개발하였다.
Abstract
Recently libraries are experiencing an increasing number of difficult patrons because of the increase in the unemployment rate and the problem of mental health in their communities. The problem behaviours of difficult patrons have negative influence to other users and staff in the library. This seems closely associated with the decline in the quality of library services. Therefore, in this study, we developed a how-to-do-it manual for library staff to meet the aforementioned challenges and to enhance the overall quality of library services for both general users and difficult patrons.

오늘날 초고속통신망의 구축과 인터넷의 확산으로 인한 정보화의 급격한 진행은 국회도서관의 의회정보서비스에도 많은 변화를 초래하였다. 같은 맥락에서 의회정보서비스도 이용자들의 정보요구와 변화에 부응하여 이용자들이 만족하는 정보서비스를 제공하여야 한다. 이에 본 연구는 우리나라 국회도서관 의회정보서비스 이용자 만족도를 제고시키기 위한 방안을 고찰하고 이용자가 만족하는 도서관 서비스 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 국회에 소속되어 있는 국회의원 및 보좌진을 대상으로 국회도서관 의회정보서비스에 대한 이용자들의 만족도 조사를 실시하였으며, 설문조사를 바탕으로 의회정보서비스 의견을 수렴하고 이를 분석․반영하여 이용, 홍보, 만족도 등 국회도서관 의회정보서비스의 개선 방향을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The construction of an information super highway and diffusion of the internet brings about a lot of changes in the Legislative Information Services of the National Assembly Library. In the same vein, Legislative Information Services should provide information services which satisfy users according to their information needs and the changes. In light of that, this study aims at enhancing users' satisfaction and suggesting information services for the Legislative Information Services of the National Assembly Library. Accordingly, this study surveys assemblymen and their assistants of satisfaction in Legislative Information Services and suggests some recommendations for improvement based on the survey results.

본 연구는 한국 통합 검색 환경에서의 이용자 적합성 판단 기준에 관한 탐색적 연구이다. 이를 위해 10명의 참가자들을 대상으로 반구조화(semi-structured) 인터뷰를 수행하여 데이터를 수집하였다. 참가자들은 네이버, 다음 등과 같은 통합 검색 환경에서 본인들이 관심 있거나 필요로 하는 다양한 검색을 수행하고, 그 과정에서 문서가 적합한지와 그 판단 기준에 대해 기술하였다. 연구 결과 8개의 적합성 판단 기준과 비적합성 판단 기준, 그리고 검색 환경이 변화하여도 이용자가 적합성을 판단하는 기준들이 크게 변화하지는 않지만 데이터 증가와 이용자 요구의 고도화로 특수성과 구체성이 중요한 적합성 판단 기준으로 부각되는 점을 발견하였다.
Abstract
This study is an exploratory research on the user relevance criteria in Korean search service environments that provide integrated search results. Data were collected from 10 participants using a semi-structured interview technique. The participants conducted a web search using integrated search services, such as Naver or Daum on a self-selected topic. They were asked to judge the relevance of retrieved documents and to report their relevance criteria. As a result, the research indicated 8 user-defined relevance and non-relevance criteria. The research shows that specificity and richness are the two most important criteria yet, the user’s relevance criteria have not changed much despite the change in search environment.

전자책은 전용 단말기 기술의 향상으로 꾸준히 주목을 받고 있으나, 전자책의 효율성과 인지도에 비하여 상대적으로 이용률이 낮다. 이 연구에서는 전자책 이용 환경을 개선하고 이용자들의 필요와 요구를 만족시키기 위하여 먼저 전자책의 이용과 이용성 연구 설계에서 제안하고 있는 원칙과 기존 휴리스틱 연구 유형에 대한 문헌 조사를 실시하였다. 이에 근거하여 전자책 이용 경험자들을 대상으로 목적성 표집을 하였고 모집된 22명의 실험 참여자들은 휴리스틱 평가를 실시하였다. 본 연구의 실험을 통하여 지적된 이용성 문제와 요구된 이용 편리성을 모두 종합하여 최종 10개의 휴리스틱을 도출하여 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study aims to enhance the usability of eBook reader programs on personal computers through heuristic evaluation in order to learn users’ perceptions and derive key elements for interface design. For this purpose, the traditional usability evaluation and heuristic evaluation method were studied. A total of 22 evaluators of the heuristic evaluation were taken by purposive sampling to test the interface of eBook reader on PCs. This study suggested ten heuristics that focus on improving and specializing the usability aspects of reading digital materials.

본 연구는 최근 새롭게 등장한 정보탐색매체인 스마트폰을 통한 이용자들의 정보탐색행태를 탐색주제와 고려요인을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 연구를 위하여 스마트폰 이용자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과 단순한 사실을 제시하거나 실시간으로 요구되는 성격의 주제에 대한 탐색 빈도가 높은 것으로 확인되었으며, 웹과 모바일 정보탐색행태에서 고려되는 요인들을 스마트폰 정보탐색행태에 적용한 결과 대부분의 요인들이 스마트폰 정보탐색에서도 중요하게 고려되는 것으로 조사되었다.
Abstract
This study aims to understand the information search behavior of smart phone users. The focus is on the subjects of sought information and the factors considered by the users during information seeking process. To gather the research data, a questionnaire survey was conducted. Some of the findings include that simple facts and the real-time updated topics were searched more often than the ones requiring complicated queries. It was also found that most of the important factors found to be relevant on the Web, and mobile information use environments were equally applicable to the smart phone information seeking cases.

도서관은 시민의 지적자유를 보장하기 위해 설립된 기관이며, 시민은 그들이 요구하고, 접근하고, 이용한 정보가 기밀로 유지될 권리를 갖는다. 그들의 프라이버시 보호는 언론의 자유, 사고의 자유, 집회의 자유를 실현하는데 핵심이 된다. 도서관과 사서가 이용자의 프라이버시 문제를 심각하게 생각해야 하는 이유는 도서관 이용자의 개인정보 보호는 사서가 가장 중요하게 생각해야 하는 임무중의 하나이며, 이용자가 지적자유를 진정으로 누릴 수 있도록 하기 위함이다. 본 연구에서는 도서관에서 발생할 수 있는 프라이버시 침해가능성에 대해서 포괄적으로 조사․분석하고자 하였다. 그 결과 국가나 법률관련기관이 업무를 집행하는 과정에서 발생했던 프라이버시 침해 사례, 대출반납서비스, 참고서비스, 온라인탐색서비스 등 일상적인 도서관서비스를 하는 과정에서 발생했던 프라이버시 침해가능성 및 사례, 그리고 도서관업무를 아웃소싱하는 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 침해 가능성 및 사례 등이 있는 것으로 조사되었다.
Abstract
Libraries are founded to ensure the intellectual freedom of citizens, and citizens have the right to confidentiality regarding their needs, information access, and information use. Protecting users’ privacy is critical to safeguarding their freedom of speech, freedom of thought, and freedom of assembly. Libraries and librarians should seriously concern themselves with their users’ privacy because protecting this privacy is part of their most important mission, and, in doing so, users can truly enjoy their intellectual freedom. This study extensively investigated and analyzed the possibility of privacy invasion that may occur in libraries. As a result, cases of potential invasion of privacy in libraries were summarized in the following three categories: violations occurring in the process of national or law agencies’ enforcement operations; violations occurring in the process of routine library services such as circulation, reference, online searching etc.; and violations occurring by outsourcing library services.

의료기술과 생활환경의 발달로 인해 급속하게 노령화 사회가 진행되면서 노년의 삶에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 32명의 노령이용자와의 심층면접을 통하여 정보요구와 이용행태를 파악하고 정보 접근 경로 및 온라인 커뮤니케이션 방식에 대하여 알아보고자 하였다. 면담내용 분석 결과 노령이용자들이 주로 정보를 찾고자 하는 주제들은 건강과 뉴스, 여가 및 취미 생활로 조사되었고, 주로 이용하는 매체는 TV, 라디오, 인터넷, 가족 및 친지, 그리고 신문 등이었으며, 온라인 커뮤니티, 블로그, 소셜 네트워크 사이트와 같은 소셜 컴퓨팅 서비스는 현재 노령이용자층의 이용률은 낮지만 가족 및 사회 구성원과의 접촉 및 커뮤니케이션 기회를 확대함으로써 삶에 대한 만족감과 정신적 행복감을 증가시킬 수 있는 효과가 있을 것으로 인지하고 있는 것으로 파악되었다.
Abstract
The population aging occurs rapidly due to the advancement of the medical technology and living conditions and this led increased interests in how the elderly manages their lives. This study attempted to understand the information needs and behavior of the elderly users as well as to find about their information access and online communications. Based on the analysis of the interviews with thirty-two elderly users, they mainly looked for information on the topics such as health, news, leisure, and hobby. In addition, they primarily used television, radio, Internet, family members, relatives, and newspaper to obtain information. Their current use of social computing services including online communities, blogs, social network sites were low. However, the elderly users were aware of the social computing services’ effectiveness in increasing the satisfaction and happiness of their lives by expanding the opportunities for them to communicate with family members and other social members.

세대적 특성과 정보기술의 발달은 이미지의 생산과 이용을 가속화한다. 본 연구는 이미지 이용자의 일상생활 맥락에서 정보요구를 분석하여 이미지 접근점 확장에 관한 논의를 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위하여 소셜 Q&A 서비스인 네이버 지식인에서 이미지를 검색하고자 하는 질문 105건을 추출하였다. 이미지 질문은 이용 목적과 이미지 속성으로 구분한 프레임워크를 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과로서 이용 목적은 총 8가지로, 이미지를 데이터로서 이용하고자 하는 목적이 두드러졌으며, 이중에서 ‘보고그리기’는 기존 연구결과에서 찾아볼 수 없었던 이용 목적으로 새롭게 도출되었다. 이미지 속성에서는 의미, 비시각적, 구성 측면에서 의미와 비시각적 속성이 우세하게 나타났다. 전통적으로 이미지 검색과 접근에서 의미 측면의 속성은 중요하게 인식되어 왔으나, 본 연구의 분석결과에서 보여주는 바와 같이 비시각적 측면 특히, 맥락 요소의 비중은 접근점 제공에 있어서 중요한 시사점으로 볼 수 있다.
Abstract
Images have been substantially searched and used due to not only the advanced internet and digital technologies but the characteristics of a younger generation. The purpose of this study aims to discuss the ways on expanding the access points to images by analyzing the needs of users in context of everyday life. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, 105 questions of image seeking in NAVER, which is one of social Q&A services in Korea, were analyzed. For the analysis, a two-dimensional framework with image uses and image attributes were utilized. The findings of this study demonstrate that considerable use purposes on data oriented pole, such as information processing, information dissemination and learning are identified. On the other hand, image attributes from the needs of image show that non-visual aspects including contextual attributes are recognized substantially in addition to the traditional semantic attributes.
