인터넷이 점차 실세상의 한 부분이 됨에 따라서 유용한 디지털도서관을 만드는 것이 우리사회에서 중요한 일이 되었다. 인터넷의 이전 세대에서는 주로 기술에 주안점을 두어 시스템을 개발하였다. 그러나 오늘날 논점은 지능적 디지털도서관을 통하여 유용하게 정보를 찾는 것으로 바뀌어가고 있다. 새로운 기술과 일상의 정보 요구사이에서 긴장은 풀리지 않고 있다는 지적이 계속 이어지고 있는데, 최근의 연구결과는 정보시스템 상에서 기술적 요소와 사회학적 요소 간에 균형이 필요하다는 것을 보여준다. 사회학적 요소에 대한 배려는 디지털도서관 시스템을 설치한 이후 계속 발전시켜나가는데 반드시 필요하다는 것을 보여준다. 본 연구는 새로운 DL 서비스가 요구되는 시대에 비 기술적 요소의 영향에 대한 중요성에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 첫 번째 세대의 DL 개발에 있어서 경험과 문건들이 체계적으로 검토 분석되었다. 분석결과 사회기술적 접근방법이 새로운 서비스를 위해 절실히 필요하다는 명제를 제시하였다.
Abstract
As the Internet becomes a part of the infrastructure of the world, so will the process of creating useful digital libraries become an important part of our society. Previous generations of Internet were focused mainly on the technology. Today the focus has shifted to searching information usefully over the intelligent Digital Library. However the tension between new technologies and daily information needs was never resolved but was significantly noted by many researches. Recent findings show us to gain some feeling for the balancing act in information systems between technological and sociological factors. They shows that consideration in sociology is needed for the sound deployment after installation of digital library systems. This study focused on the importance of effects of non-technical factors for the new DL service period. Experiences and documents in the first generation DL period were scrutinized and analysed systematically. As a result, we find new idea, socio-technical approaches to the new DL services.
초록
시니어전환 시대를 맞이하여 도서관의 주 이용군으로 부상된 시니어를 대상으로 디지털환경에서 정보접근 및 검색 편의정도, 요구사항을 파악하였다. 이를 위하여 55세 이상의 국회도서관 이용자의 이용행태 및 검색행태를 조사하였고 이러한 행태와 만족도를 시니어 세대별 즉 베이비붐세대의 액티브시니어 그룹과 노인세대의 시니어 그룹으로 나누어 비교분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 국회도서관을 이용하는 노인세대는 여가를 목적으로 방문하며 정치․사회, 종교․철학, 역사․지리분야를 선호하였으나, 베이비붐세대는 자기계발을 목적으로 경제․재테크, 예술․문화 분야를 선호하는 것으로 조사되었다. 둘째, 검색을 실패하였을 경우 베이비붐세대의 시니어는 스스로 결과를 제어하는 반면, 노인세대는 사서에 의존도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 시니어 두 그룹 모두 장시간 전자도서관을 이용하면서 자료를 브라우징하고 있음에도 불구하고 전자도서관에서 제공하고 있는 편의․정제 기능에 대한 이용률이 저조하였다. 따라서 시니어의 이용을 활성화하고 편의성을 높이기 위해서는 시니어 전담사서가 필요하고 전자도서관을 이용하는 시니어를 위해 따로 도움말, 메뉴 설명이 필요 없는 직관적인 인터페이스가 개발될 필요가 있다. 이로써 현 이용자뿐만 아니라 잠재적 시니어들의 정보 리터러시 향상과 이용성 제고를 도모할 수 있을 것으로 본다.
Abstract
As coming Senior-Shift age, senior users are regarded as one of the importance user groups in the library. This study is to find the usage patterns and needs of libraries and digital libraries by 152 seniors and to compare with young-old age (baby boom generation) and elderly age. As a result, total seniors visited regularly and preferred political & social, religion & philosophy, and history & geography. While the baby boom generation are using the economy & finance, art & culture compared to the older. And the baby boom generation visit for self-development and the older visit for leisure purposes. Secondly, If the search fails, the baby boomers control the results themselves, while the older is more turn to the librarians. It can be described as the need for a librarian exclusively responsible for the senior. Thirdly, senior have difficulties in access and use of search aided tools or functions. Therefore, this study suggested that it is necessary to build an intuitive interface using the help and menu descriptions for senior who have poor access to convenience and define functions.
