본 연구는 이용자, 이용 중단자, 비이용자의 공공도서관에 대한 인식수준의 차이 및 공공도서관 비이용 요인에 대한 집단 간 인식수준의 차이를 파악하여 이용 중단자 집단과 비이용자 집단을 이용자 집단으로 유입할 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구를 위해 문헌분석과 설문조사 결과의 통계적 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 이용자, 이용 중단자, 비이용자 집단 간 공공도서관에 대한 인식 및 공공도서관 비이용 요인 인식에 있어 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 분석결과를 바탕으로 이용 중단자와 비이용자의 공공도서관 인식에 대한 공통 요인, 비이용 요인 및 이용 중단 요인을 나누어 파악하고 이를 개선하기 위한 고려 사항을 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study aims to develop measures to turn former users and non-users of public libraries back into users by understanding the differences between the user, former user and non-user groups in terms of their perceptions to public libraries, as well as the differences between these groups in their perceptions regarding the factors to non-use of public libraries. A literature review and statistical analysis of the results from a questionnaire survey were conducted to identify the differences. The results from the statistical analysis showed significant differences between the user, former user and non-user groups in terms of their perceptions to public libraries and the non-use factors. From the results, we could categorize the factors into common non-use factors, non-use-only factors, and use interrupt factors, and we develop suggestions to improve the factors in order to move non-users and former users to frequent users of the public libraries.

학술잡지 구입 예산의 구입비용의 상승에 따른 압력으로 지난 수십년간 학술잡지의 선택에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되어 왔지만, 학술잡지의 선택에 대한 만족할만한 이론적 틀이 제시되지 못하였다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 의학도서관에서 의학분야의 학술잡지의 선택에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 확인하여 이러한 이론적 틀을 제시할 수 있는 근거를 마련코자 한다. 본 연구는 상관관계 분석과 로지스틱회귀분석을 통해 학술잡지선택의 분산을 설명하고, 나아가 예측하는 통계적 모델들을 여러 변수조합을 이용해 제시한다. 또한 이러한 모델의 실제적 적용과 향후 연구방향을 논의한다.
Abstract
Since the beginning of discussions on serial collection management, as budgets have waxed and waned over the ensuing decades, a number of key variables affecting selection/deselection have emerged but without the framework of a coherent and accepted theoretical model. This study is an effort to identify variables which affect the serial collection decision with special attention to selection/deselection in the context of an academic health science library. Based on results from correlation analyses and logistic regression analyses, the serial collection decision can be explained and predicted using various combinations of a reduced set of objective variables. Applications of the results to libraries are discussed, and further research is proposed.

본 연구는 공공도서관과 대형서점 이용자의 요구 및 이용행태가 유사하다는 가정 하에 두 기관의 분류방식의 분석을 통해 이용자의 도서탐색을 용이하게 해주는 요인들을 조사하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 대형서점의 방식으로 공공도서관의 장서를 분류하는 것을 제안하기보다는 공공도서관과 대형서점 분류방식의 어떤 특징이 탐색을 용이하게 하는지를 알아보아, 공공도서관에서 보다 편리한 분류를 제공하기 위해 고려할 점들이 무엇인지를 알아보는데 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 공공도서관 이용자의 도서탐색의 특징과 공공도서관과 대형서점의 분류방식을 조사·분석한 후 설문지법을 통해 이용자의 도서탐색목적과 탐색영역, 탐색기준을 알아보고, 공공도서관과 대형서점의 분류표를 바탕으로 탐색에 더 편리한 분류방식과 그 원인을 분석하였다. 연구결과 이용자들은 대형서점의 분류방식이 도서탐색에 더 편리하다고 생각하고 있음이 밝혀졌다.
Abstract
The research was conducted to investigate factors that facilitate users’ finding books by analyzing classifications in public library and bookstore. This research was based on the assumption that the users’ needs and information behaviors are similar in both public library and bookstore. The main purpose of this study is not to recommend classifying public library collections the way a bookstore does, but to figure out what makes the users’ book finding more convenient by analyzing the classifications. To carry out the research, users’ book finding in public library and classifications of public library and bookstore are analyzed. Then, a survey was conducted to investigate users’ book finding behaviors, degree of convenience in finding books according to different classifications and the causes of the convenience. The results of the research showed that bookstore’s classification was more convenient for the users in finding books.
