본 연구는 우리나라 2개 국가도서관과 9개 지역대표도서관, 서울시립정독도서관을 대상으로 담당 사서들의 도서기호에 대한 인식 및 문제점을 조사하고 각 도서관에서 사용하고 있는 도서기호의 현황을 분석하여 도서기호에 대한 개선방안을 제시하였다. 도서기호의 가장 큰 문제점은 도서기호의 중복으로 인해 길어지는 도서기호의 길이로 나타났으며 도서기호 현황 분석을 통해 도서기호의 중복과 함께 직관성 부족이라는 문제점을 도출하였다. 이에 본 연구는 이용자 친화적이면서 간단하게 부여할 수 있는 저자명순과 연대순 방식을 조합한 새로운 도서기호법의 구성 요소를 제안하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of assigning book numbers and the perceptions of librarians who assign the book numbers at two National Libraries, nine Regional Central Libraries and Jeongdok Public Library in Korea. Based upon the analysis, a better method to assign book numbers for the libraries was suggested. The most serious problem was the length of the book numbers due to the duplication of book numbers and lack of intuitiveness. Therefore, this study suggested a user-oriented way of assigning book numbers based upon combining the name of the author and the year of the publication.
초록
본 연구는 어린이 도서관 서비스 제공자인 사서와 어린이 이용자의 전자책 인식 및 이용을 살펴보고 서비스 개선 방안을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 5개 어린이 도서관에 근무하는 사서 55명을 대상으로 전자책에 대한 인식과 이용, 서비스 현황, 개선 사항을 파악하였다. 또한 동일한 도서관의 어린이 이용자 30명을 선정하여 전자책에 대한 인식과 이용행태를 조사하였다. 두 집단의 전자책에 대한 인식과 이용행태를 비교 분석하였으며, 어린이 도서관의 전자책 서비스 개선 방안으로 전자책 콘텐츠와 공간 및 시설의 충분한 제공, 이용자 교육 프로그램 개발과 적극적인 전자책 서비스 홍보, 전자책 담당 사서의 전문성을 개발할 수 있는 프로그램 제공의 필요성을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purposes of this study are to investigate the perception and use of e-books by librarians and children and to suggest important elements to improve e-book services at the children's libraries. User survey questionaries and interviews from fifty five librarians and thirty children were carried for the perceptions and the use of e-books at five children's libraries. Based upon the data analysis from two groups, three important elements for improving e-book services of the libraries were suggested as follows: providing enough e-book contents, facilities and spaces, developing e-book user education programs with proactive pubic relations, and providing professional continuing education programs regarding e-books to librarians.
