이 연구는 클랜디닌과 코넬리가 제안한 내러티브 탐구방법을 활용하여 은퇴 노인들의 도서관 이용 경험을 탐구한 것이다. 도서관이라는 공간을 이용하는 것이 은퇴노인들의 삶에 가져다 준 변화의 구체적이고, 심층적인 내용을 파악하고, 그것이 삶에 가져다주는 의미를 점검하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해서 서울 시내 공공도서관을 이용하는 세 사람의 은퇴 노인을 연구참여자로 선정하여 인터뷰하였고, 이를 바탕으로 현장텍스트를 구성하였다. 현장텍스트를 바탕으로 연구참여자들의 이야기는 소설, 에세이, 편지 형식의 연구텍스트로 재구성되었다. 이들의 도서관 이용 경험은 각각 규칙적인 생활을 위한 거점, 재미와 활력, 새로운 꿈꾸기를 위한 보물창고, 노년을 견디는 위안의 원천으로 해석되었다. 책읽기를 통한 건강한 삶에의 지향이라는 공통점을 발견할 수 있었다. 연구의 결과는 공공도서관의 노인 이용자에 관한 이해를 확충하는 데 유용하고, 서비스 개선을 위한 기초자료로 활용할 수 있으리라 기대한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to comprehend the retired elderly person’s experience of library using the narrative inquiry method proposed by Clandinin and Cornelly. I intended to grasp the details of the several changes that library use brings to the lives. It was also to examine the meanings of the experiences for their lives. For this purpose, three elderly retirees using public libraries in Seoul were selected as research participants. I interviewed their experiences and constructed field text from interview. Based on the field text, the story of the participants was reconstructed into research text which is form of novels, essays, and letters. Their experience in using libraries was interpreted as a source of regular life, fun and vitality, a treasure house for dreaming new life, a source of consolation to endure old age. And I found some common points within their narrative that they seek for a healthy life through reading books. The results of this study are expected to be useful for expanding the understanding of the public library’s elderly users and to be used as basic data for service improvement.
초록
저작권은 디지털도서관 서비스의 범위와 방법을 결정하는 법률적인 기준이다. 보호기간 만료저작물은 저작권 보호가 종료되어 누구나 자유롭게 이용할 수 있다. 이런 까닭에 디지털도서관 구축과 서비스에서 우선 고려 대상이 된다. 이 연구는 실제로 도서관이 보호기간 만료저작물을 서비스에 얼마나 적극적으로 활용하고 있는가를 점검하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해서 먼저 디지털도서관의 구축과 서비스에 적용되는 저작권법의 관련 조항들을 망라해서 정리하고, 아울러 저작권 보호기간이 가지는 의미를 이론적으로 살펴보았다. 그리고 나서 국립중앙도서관의 보호기간 만료저작물 온라인 서비스 현황을 김유정, 이효석, 채만식 세 명의 일제강점기 작가들의 저작물을 중심으로 살펴보면서, 보호기간 만료저작물의 구체적인 서비스 실태를 점검하였다. 국립중앙도서관은 법률의 허용하는 범위를 충분히 활용하지 못하고 있으며, 이러한 사정이 도서 내에 포함된 다른 저작자의 권리와 연결되어 있음을 밝혔다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 서비스 단위를 저작물을 중심으로 변경할 필요성과 전거레코드를 활용해서 저작자의 생몰년 관리를 체계화할 필요가 있음을 제안하였다.
Abstract
Copyright is a legal criterion for determining the scope and method of digital library service. Works with expired protection periods correspond to the public domain and can be freely used by anyone. For this reason, it is a priority consideration in digital library construction and services. The purpose of this study is to examine how actively libraries are using expired protected works for digital library services. To this end, the relevant provisions of the Copyright Act applied to the construction and service of digital libraries were first summarized, and the meaning of the copyright protection period was theoretically examined. The current status of online services for expired works by the National Library of Korea was examined, focusing on the works of three Japanese colonial era writers, Kim Yoo-jung, Lee Hyo-seok, and Chae Man-sik, to check the specific service status of expired works. It reveals that the National Library of Korea is not fully utilizing the scope of the law, and that this situation is linked to the rights of other authors included in the book. Based on these results, it suggests that there is a need to change the service unit to focus on copyrighted works and to use authority records to systematize the management of authors’ death years.
